School Standards
Welcome to the Ocean of Light Summer School! We’re so happy that you’re here! To preserve and enhance group unity, and respect the standards of our Faith, the School Committee has adopted standards for all of us while at school. Each of these standards is designed to protect the Faith, the school, and the participants. They are fully obligatory for all attendees. Parents/Sponsors should ensure that children and youth understand and comply with these standards.
Spirit of Conduct
- At all times, strive to show love, respect, and kindness to one another. We hope our community will show the utmost kindness, gratefulness, and helpfulness to the Seabeck staff who have carefully prepared the site for us, and who will be caring for us throughout our stay.
If You are in Need of Assistance While at Camp
- If you need general assistance while at camp, please contact a committee member instead of reaching out directly to the Seabeck staff. The committee will communicate with Seabeck staff on behalf of our group. This helps to limit the impact we have on the Seabeck staff. Committee contact information is located at the desk in the Inn, & on the General info sheet in your registration folder.
- There are first aid kits in the Inn and Pines. We also ask participants to bring the basics.
- Please call 911 in case of an emergency.
- Additional bathroom supplies can be found at the desk in the Inn.
Protection of Minors Standards
- Activities involving minors must be facilitated by teams of at least two cleared adults or one cleared adult and youth over the age of 15.
- The adult-to-minor ratio must never be one-to-one in situations that are behind closed doors or out of the line of sight of another adult.
- When transporting minors, at least two cleared individuals must be present in the vehicle.
- Rule of Three:
On rare occasions when it is not possible for two cleared individuals to accompany minors, the Rule of Three must be followed: at least three individuals must be present, and at least one must be a cleared adult.
